Here is some information pertaining to the work of the composer Maryanne Amacher.

Psychoacoustic Phenomena In Musical Composition: Some Features of a "Perceptual Geography" - article written by Amacher and published in John Zorn's Arcana series of books.

Otoacoustic Emissions as a Composition Tool by Jonathon Kirk. This journal article describes the phenomenon of tones produced by the ears. These tones are sometimes called otoacoustic emissions. Much of Amacher's work is meant to engage the ear's potential for creating otoacoustic emissions.
